When In Love

"Kapit" by Emerson Labang

We exhaust our time at the office
from eight until overtime.
we lay in bed with its space
that widens each night.

The gumamela you have given me
three years ago has dried up,
“Rice is more practical now,”
you whispered.

We take less and less photos of us
when we go out.
You said that you have learned by heart
the crevices of my face.

Days and nights
find us monotonous.
My only desire is
for them to not give up.
